Titans travelled by land, air and water to complete this foray into the
Scottish wilderness of Fisherfield Forest (May 2006). The prime objective was to ‘bag’ the ‘most remote’ Munro, generally considered to be
A’Mhaighdean.
After a hearty breakfast at the Loch Maree hotel, two small boats ferried the Titans and their camping gear across the loch to the north shore. Later that day, camp was struck at an
idyllic spot on the south shore of the Fionn Loch. An afternoon/evening foray up
Beinn Lair whetted the appetite for the main outing up A’Mhaighdean on the following day. Some Titans also added
Ruadh Stac Mor to their personal tallies of the munros.
After 48 hours in the wilderness, making the return crossing of the loch felt strange; the traditional Sunday lunch at the hotel was some consolation.
