Excellent stuff Peter...implication is that the most frequent height for scottish mountains may well be lower that 3000ft. I have also noted that there are 219 Corbetts (2500ft - 3000ft)and 224 Grahams (2000-25000ft) - each category remarkably similar to the number of Munros in the 3000-3500ft category. However the criteria for a Corbetts and Grahams is somewhat more stringent (ie 500ft of reascent to it's summit) then maybe the 'mode' and possibly mean height for scottish mountains is somewhere between 2500 and 3000 feet..??

I'm sure someone, somewhere, must have composed a thesis on this subject!
